1 And Moses and the elderly of Israel commanded the people, saying, “Keep all the commands which I am commanding you today. 2 And it will be, in the day that you pass over the Jordan to the land which your God YHWH has given to you, that you raise up great stones for yourself, and plaster them with plaster, 3 and write on them all the words of this law in your passing over, so that you go into the land which your God YHWH has given to you—a land flowing with milk and honey, as YHWH, God of your fathers, had spoken to you. 4 And it will be, in your passing over the Jordan, you raise up these stones which I am commanding you today, in Mount Ebal, and you plaster them with plaster, 5 and build an altar there to your God YHWH, an altar of stones. You will not wave iron over them. 6 You will build the altar of your God YHWH with complete stones, and caused burnt-offerings to ascend on it to your God YHWH, 7 and sacrifice peace-offerings, and eat there, and rejoice before your God YHWH, 8 and write on the stones all the words of this law, well engraved.” 9 And Moses spoke—the priests, the Levites, also—to all Israel, saying, “Keep silent and hear, O Israel: This day you will become a people for your God YHWH. 10 And you will listen to the voice of your God YHWH, and do His commands and His statutes which I am commanding you today.” 11 And Moses commanded the people on that day, saying, 12 “These will stand on Mount Gerizzim to bless the people, in your passing over the Jordan: Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin. 13 And these will stand, for the reviling, on Mount Ebal: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.” 14 And the Levites answered and said to every man of Israel with a loud voice: 15 “Cursed will be the man who makes a carved and molten image, an abomination to YHWH, work of the hands of a craftsman, and puts it in a secret place.” And all the people answered and said, “Amen.” 16 “Cursed will be he who is making light of his father and his mother.” And all the people said, “Amen.” 17 “Cursed will be he who is removing his neighbor’s border.” And all the people said, “Amen.” 18 “Cursed will be he who is causing the blind to err in the way.” And all the people said, “Amen.” 19 “Cursed will be he who is turning aside the judgment of fatherless, sojourner, and widow.” And all the people said, “Amen.” 20 “Cursed will be he who is lying with his father’s wife, for he has uncovered his father’s skirt.” And all the people said, “Amen.” 21 “Cursed will be he who is lying with any beast.” And all the people said, “Amen.” 22 “Cursed will be he who is lying with his sister, daughter of his father or daughter of his mother.” And all the people said, “Amen.” 23 “Cursed will be he who is lying with his mother-in-law.” And all the people said, “Amen.” 24 “Cursed will be he who is striking his neighbor in secret.” And all the people said, “Amen.” 25 “Cursed will be he who is taking a bribe to strike a person, innocent blood.” And all the people said, “Amen.” 26 “Cursed will be he who does not establish the words of this law, to do them.” And all the people said, “Amen.”
