Deuteronomy 23

1 “No one wounded, bruised, or cut in the genitals will enter into the assembly of YHWH. 2 A bastard will not enter into the assembly of YHWH. Even a tenth generation of him will not enter into the assembly of YHWH. 3 An Ammonite and a Moabite will not enter into the assembly of YHWH. Even a tenth generation of them will not enter into the assembly of YHWH—to a distant age, 4 because that they had not come before you with bread and with water in the way, in your coming out from Egypt, and because he had hired against you Balaam son of Beor, of Pethor of Aram-Naharaim, to revile you. 5 And your God YHWH had not been willing to listen to Balaam, and your God YHWH turned the reviling to a blessing for you, because your God YHWH loves you. 6 You will not seek their peace and their good all your days—to a distant age. 7 You will not detest an Edomite, for he is your brother. You will not detest an Egyptian, for you were a sojourner in his land. 8 Sons who are fathered of them, a third generation of them, will enter into the assembly of YHWH. 9 When a camp goes out against your enemies, then you will keep from every evil thing. 10 When there is a man who is not clean in you, from an accident at night, then he will go out to the outside of the camp. He will not come into the middle of the camp. 11 And it will be, at the turning of the evening, he bathes with water, and at the going in of the sun he comes into the middle of the camp. 12 And you will be stationed at the outside of the camp, and you will go out there outside. 13 And you will have a peg on your staff, and it will be, in your sitting outside, that you dig with it, and turn back, and cover your filth. 14 For your God YHWH is walking up and down in the middle of your camp, to deliver you and to give your enemies before you, and your camp will be holy, and He will not see the nakedness of anything in you, and turn back from after you. 15 You will not shut up a servant to his lord, who escapes to you from his lord. 16 He will stay with you in your middle, in the place which he chooses within one of your gates, where it is pleasing to him. You will not oppress him. 17 There will not be a whore among the daughters of Israel, nor will there be a whoremonger among the sons of Israel. 18 You will not bring the wage of a whore or the price of a dog into the house of your God YHWH for any vow. For even both of them will be an abomination to your God YHWH. 19 You will not lend in usury to your brother—usury of money, usury of food, usury of anything which is lent on usury. 20 You may lend in usury to a stranger, but you will not lend in usury to your brother, so that your God YHWH blesses you in every putting out of your hand on the land to where you will go in to possess it. 21 When you vow a vow to your God YHWH, you will not delay to complete it. For your God YHWH certainly requires it from you, lest it has been sin in you. 22 And when you refrain to vow, it will not be sin in you. 23 You will keep and do the utterance of your lips, as you have vowed to your God YHWH, a free-will offering which you have spoken with your mouth. 24 When you come into the vineyard of your neighbor, then you will eat grapes according to your desire, your sufficiency, but you will not put any into your vessel. 25 When you come in among the standing grain of your neighbor, then you will pluck the ears with your hand, but you will not wave a sickle over the standing grain of your neighbor.”
