1 “And you will love your God YHWH, and keep His charge, and His statutes, and His judgments, and His commands, for all the days. 2 And you know today—for it is not your sons who did not know and who did not see the discipline of your God YHWH, His greatness, His strong hand, and His outstretched arm. 3 And His signs and His doings which He had done in the middle of Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to all his land. 4 And that which He had done to the force of Egypt, to its horses, and to its chariot, when He had caused the waters of the Red Sea to flow against their faces in their pursuing after them, and YHWH destroyed them, to this day. 5 And that which He had done to you in the wilderness until your coming to this place. 6 And that which He had done to Dathan and to Abiram, sons of Eliab, sons of Reuben, when the earth had opened her mouth and swallowed them, and their houses, and their tents, and everything standing which was at their feet, in the middle of all Israel— 7 but it was your eyes which were seeing all the great work of YHWH which He had done. 8 And you will keep all the commands which I am commanding you today, so that you will be strong, and will go in, and possess the land to where you will be passing over to possess it, 9 and so that you prolong days on the ground which YHWH had sworn to your fathers to give to them and to their seed—a land flowing with milk and honey. 10 For the land to where you will be going in to possess it will not be as the land of Egypt from where you have come out, where you sowed your seed and watered with your foot, as a garden of the green herb. 11 But the land to where you will be passing over to possess it will be a land of hills and valleys—it will drink water of the rain of the heavens— 12 a land which your God YHWH has searched. The eyes of your God YHWH were continually on it, from the beginning of the year even to the latter end of the year. 13 And it will be, if you listen diligently to My commands which I am commanding you today, to love your God YHWH, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, 14 then I will give the rain of your land in its season—autumn rain and spring rain—and you will gather your grain, and your new wine, and your oil, 15 and I will give herbs in your field for your livestock, and you will eat and be satisfied. 16 Take heed to yourselves lest your heart be enticed, and you turn aside, and serve other gods, and bow yourselves to them, 17 and the anger of YHWH will burn against you, and He will restrain the heavens and there will be no rain, and the ground will not give her increase, and you will perish quickly from off the good land which YHWH has given to you. 18 And you will place these words of mine on your heart and on your soul, and bind them for a sign on your hand, and they will be for frontlets between your eyes. 19 And you will teach them to your sons by speaking of them in your sitting in your house, and in your going in the way, and in your lying down, and in your rising up, 20 and will write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, 21 so that your days are multiplied, and the days of your sons, on the ground which YHWH had sworn to your fathers to give to them, as the days of the heavens above the earth. 22 For if you diligently keep all this commands which I am commanding you to do—to love your God YHWH, to walk in all His ways, and to cleave to Him— 23 then YHWH will dispossess all these nations from before you, and you will possess nations greater and mightier than you. 24 Every place on which the sole of your foot treads will be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the Euphrates River, even to the Western Sea, will be your border. 25 No man will station himself in your presence. Your God YHWH will put your dread and your fear on the face of all the land on which you tread, as He has spoken to you. 26 See, today I will be setting before you a blessing and a reviling: 27 the blessing when you listen to the commands of your God YHWH which I am commanding you today. 28 And the reviling if you do not listen to the commands of your God YHWH, and have turned aside from the way which I am commanding you today, to go after other gods which you do not know. 29 And it will be, when your God YHWH brings you into the land to where you are going in to possess it, that you give the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the reviling on Mount Ebal. 30 Are they not beyond the Jordan, behind the way of the going in of the sun, in the land of the Canaanite who was staying in the plain opposite Gilgal, near the oaks of Moreh? 31 For you will be passing over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which your God YHWH has given to you. And you will possess it, and stay in it, 32 and observe to do all the statutes and the judgments which I am setting before you today.”
