Numbers 19

1 And YHWH spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, 2 “This will be a statute of the law which YHWH has commanded, saying, Speak to the sons of Israel, and they will bring a red cow to you, a perfect one, in which there is no blemish, on which no yoke has gone up. 3 And you give it to Eleazar the priest, and he will bring it out to the outside of the camp, and slaughter it before him. 4 And Eleazar the priest will take of its blood with his finger, and sprinkle it toward the front of the face of the Tent of Meeting from its blood seven times. 5 And one will burn the cow before his eyes. Her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, besides her dung, he will burn. 6 And the priest will take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and throw them into the middle of the burning of the cow. 7 And the priest will wash his garments, and bathe his flesh with water, and afterward come into the camp, and the priest will be unclean until the evening. 8 And he who is burning it will wash his garments with water, and bathe his flesh with water, and will be unclean until the evening. 9 And a clean man will gather the ashes of the cow, and place them at the outside of the camp in a clean place, and it will become a charge for the congregation of the sons of Israel for waters of separation—it will be for sin. 10 And he who is gathering the ashes of the heifer will wash his garments and will be unclean until the evening. And it will be to the sons of Israel and to the sojourner who is sojourning in their middle for a continuous statute. 11 He who is coming against the dead body of any man will be unclean for seven days. 12 He will cleanse himself for it on the third day and on the seventh day, and he will be clean. And if he does not cleanse himself on the third day and on the seventh day, he will not be clean. 13 Anyone who is coming against the dead, against the body of a man who died, and does not cleanse himself, he will defile the Dwelling Place of YHWH, and that person will be cut off from Israel, for water of separation will not be sprinkled on him. He will be unclean. His uncleanness will still be on him. 14 This will be the law when a man dies in a tent: everyone who is coming into the tent and all that was in the tent will be unclean for seven days. 15 And every open vessel which has no covering of thread on it will be unclean. 16 And everyone on the face of the field who comes against the piercing of a sword, or against the dead, or against a bone of man, or against a grave, will be unclean for seven days. 17 And for the unclean person they will take from the ashes of the burning of the cow, and put running water over it into a vessel. 18 And a clean person will take hyssop, and dip it in water, and sprinkle it on the tent, and on all the vessels, and on the persons who have been there, and on him who has come against a bone, or against one pierced, or against the dead, or against a grave. 19 And the clean will sprinkle it on the unclean on the third day and on the seventh day, and will cleanse him on the seventh day, and he will wash his garments, and bathe with water, and will be clean in the evening. 20 And the man who is unclean and does not cleanse himself, indeed, that person will be cut off from the middle of the assembly. For he has defiled the sanctuary of YHWH. Water of separation will not be sprinkled on him. He will be unclean. 21 And it will be for a continuous statute to them, that he who is sprinkling the water of separation will wash his garments, and he who is coming against the water of separation will be unclean until the evening, 22 and all against which the unclean person comes will be unclean, and the person who is coming against it will be unclean until the evening.”
