Leviticus 1

1 And YHWH called to Moses, and spoke to him out of the Tent of Meeting, saying, 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel, and you say to them: Any man of you, when he brings an offering near to YHWH out of the livestock—out of the herd or out of the flock—you will bring your offering near. 3 If his offering is a burnt-offering out of the herd, he will bring a male near, a perfect one, to the opening of the Tent of Meeting. He will bring it near at his pleasure before YHWH. 4 And will lay his hand on the head of the burnt-offering, and it will be accepted for him to make atonement for him. 5 And he will slaughter the son of the herd before YHWH. And sons of Aaron, the priests, will bring the blood near, and sprinkle the blood around the altar, which is at the opening of the Tent of Meeting. 6 And he will strip the burnt-offering, and cut it into its pieces. 7 And the sons of Aaron the priest will put fire on the altar, and arrange wood on the fire. 8 And sons of Aaron, the priests, will arrange the pieces, with the head and the fat, on the wood, which will be on the fire, which will be on the altar. 9 And he will wash its innards and its legs with water. And the priest will make incense with the whole on the altar, a burnt-offering, a fire-offering of refreshing fragrance to YHWH. 10 And if his offering is out of the flock—out of the sheep or out of the goats—he will bring a male near, a perfect one, for a burnt-offering, 11 and he will slaughter it by the side of the altar northward, before YHWH. And sons of Aaron, the priests, will sprinkle its blood around the altar. 12 And he will cut it into its pieces, and its head and its fat, and the priest will arrange them on the wood, which will be on the fire, which will be on the altar. 13 And he will wash the innards and the legs with water, and the priest will bring the whole near, and will make incense on the altar. It will be a burnt-offering, a fire-offering of refreshing fragrance to YHWH. 14 And if his offering is a burnt-offering out of the bird to YHWH, then he will bring his offering near out of the turtle-doves or out of the young pigeons, 15 and the priest will bring it near to the altar, and wring off its head, and will make incense on the altar, and its blood will be wrung out by the side of the altar. 16 And he will turn aside its crop with its feathers, and throw it near the altar, eastward, to the place of ashes. 17 And he will cleave it with its wings (he will not separate it), and the priest will make it an incense on the altar, on the wood, which will be on the fire. It will be a burnt-offering, a fire-offering of refreshing fragrance to YHWH.”
